A Memoir of Past Loves: A Movie List

I don't know about you, but I've been spending most of my time at home these days. Of course, I'll go out for a stroll when I can. Sometimes, I sit on the front stoop with a glass of wine or a good book, or I'll just sit and breathe in the nature around me. It's been a peaceful time, and often I find myself in deep reflection reminiscing over memories, feelings, good and bad. I allow myself to experience these prolific thoughts. I savor their meaning, even when it hurts.

Recently, I've thought about the beautiful, the momentous, the painful, and the exciting relationships I've been lucky enough to experience throughout my life; loves, flames, sweethearts, the romantic type. I think about the impact they have on me and the ways their memories persist; one of those ways is through film. There are a handful of films that remind me specifically of the persons I once shared a special bond with.

I've decided to refrain from sharing specific stories or reasons as to why these particular films remind me of past loves, but they do in their own special way. Perhaps they'll remind you of a former beau as well.

My Girl (1991)

Malèna (2000)
