My 4-Step Skincare Routine

I’ve never been the type to have pea-perfect skin. Growing up, I had aggressive acne that made me so self-conscious. Many of us can relate. Here and now, I have some outbreaks, but I’ve learned how to maintain them; a combination of a wholesome diet, healthy hydration, and quality, tried-and-true products!

Now, I‘m told more often than not that my skin is “glowing”, even without makeup! The secret? My 4-step nightly skin routine. It’s au natural, and it’s fabulous.

God help the man I marry because it takes me roughly 40 minutes to brush my teeth and complete this nightly ritual. But guess what? It’s worth every second. It’s a way for me to care for my body, and that’s one of the best luxuries I can offer myself.

Be unforgiving about your devotion to self-care!

I should note that my skin naturally falls on the more oily side (again, I’ve found ways and natural skin products to help maintain outbreaks and inflammation). Perhaps you will derive inspiration from my routine to match your skin’s needs. Maybe you have oily skin like mine and this 4-step remedy will be your saving grace.

Either way, read on to learn about the 4 steps of my skincare routine and the natural skin products I use to create a glowing complexion.

Step 1: Wash

Most days, I'll use an exfoliant to clean my skin. My favorite right now is Éminence's powder-to-foam exfoliant, Stone Crop Oxygenating Fizzofoliant™. The first time I tried this was a sample I received from a local spa, the aesthetician told me it could help my acne-prone skin. I tried it for a week and never looked back. Almost every night, I will mix about a quarter-size of the powder with water, and gently massage my face with the mix. On nights I feel like my skin needs a break, I use Eucalyptus Cleansing Concentrate.

Step 2: Face Mask

Not to be confused with the kind that goes over your mouth to protect you from COVID-19! This is not an everyday thing, but I use a face mask at least twice a week. My all-time favorite mask is May Lindstrom's luxurious Honey Mud Mask. I swear by this stuff. It is so gentle on the skin and naturally fragrant with a pudding-like texture that is rich with goodness. There's a waiting list, but let me tell you, it's WORTH the wait and worth the splash out. My skin looks noticeably different after one use. When I'm out of honey mud, I use Lavido's Deep Detox Clay Mask; a beautifully scented blend with a whipped mouse-like texture. Rejuvenating.

Step 3: Spot Treatment

Again, I cannot vouch enough for Éminence's wholesome products. Before moving on to the final step, I make sure to cover my blemishes with Éminence's Acne Advanced Clarifying Masque. For more stubborn blemishes, I simply apply an acne patch, which you can buy on Amazon!

Step 4: Hydrate (skin and lips)

The final step is to hydrate, especially during the winter time when the air is rather dry. I use Éminence's Rosehip Triple C+E Firming Oil or May Lindstrom's Blue Cocoon (you can score a sample of Blue Cocoon with any purchase from May Lindstrom!) And we cannot forget the lips. Every night, I brush my lips with Malin + Goetz Lip Moisturizer for full and hydrated lips.
